1 Corinthians 15:12-19
The town of Corinth was located on one of the popular trade routes. It was a crossroads. And as
such was a popular place for the arts. It was a place of thinkers, movers and shakers. They were
mostly Greeks and if you know anything about the Greeks you know that they were THINKERS.
They began to question the RESURRECTION. When word got to Paul, it was at a low period of
his life. He was locked up so he had to write to the church and preach the resurrection to them all
Being a lawyer and knowing who he was writing to he had to skill fully organize his letter to appeal to their enquiring minds. He knew that he was up against, a society which had its pagan roots and grounded in sexual immorality. He pointed out that the alternative
to the hope of resurrection was MISERY.In our society today we see the resulting misery of men
pinning their hopes and dreams on themselves. The bible says set your affections on things above
We all set goals. We all have hopes, dreams and aspirations. WHAT PAUL IS SAYING WHICH IS GOOD EVEN TODAY IS THAT WE CANNOT HAVE GOALS, DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS INDEPENDENT OF OUR HOPE FOR ETERNAL LIFE?
BECAUSE WE WILL BE MOST MISERABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!! Each person has a responsibility to investigate what it is that makes you
MISERABLE. Is it your EDUCATION,
Job, Personal accomplishments, Marriage, children, church; somewhere along the line it adds up
to misery. The important question to bear in mind is
Are your goals accompanied by the belief and the hope of the
If we look quickly and compare the goals of the following two
groups we will see the difference
in their goals and hopes.
Ananias & Saffiras, Gehazi and Cain did not seem to align their hopes and beliefs while
Joseph, Hebrew boys and David certainly did.
The Challenge: We should all include the hope of eternal life with your hopes, dreams and
Accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior and allow him to order your steps. ALTHOUGH
THE VISION TARRY IT MUST COME TO PAST. In our daily walk I am sure the we will
encounter the testimony of people combining their goals and dreams with a hope of eternal life.
